Classes


All classes must be paid at least 10 days prior to class. Cancellations received within 7 business days of class are not refundable due to confirmations with teachers. You can receive any handouts received. Cancellations prior to 7 business days can be refunded or given an in-store credit.

Embroidery Club students will need to pay the month before to secure your spot in the class. The maximum number of students in each embroidery class is 5.

This class is a follow-on to any of our beginning quilting classes.  With this class you will learn how to figure out sashing & border amounts, sizing, and proper application.  Turn your blocks into a tablerunner, wallhanging, or quilt.


    
     Premier+2 Software Class:  Tues 1/29 4-6 p.m. or
     Wed 1/30 10 a.m. - 12 p.m.

This class requires Premier+2 Ultra and the lesson is available for Windows and MAC users.  In this lesson, we'll edit a design to create seven new elements, then use Encore to build a larger design that would work well as a table runner  (using your favorite table runner pattern).  We will then split the design to be stitched in multiple hoopings.

Time to complete your Boot Camp project.  It doesn't matter what size your project is, this class will go over how to finish you quilt.  We will cover basting, quilting, and binding.




     Boot Camp - Beginning Quilting General Session 1:

Join us for an 8-part Beginning Quilting Boot Camp. We will offer these classes a la carte so if you miss one you can always make it up later to complete your binder.  This first session will be lecture / demo / and hands on cutting.  We will cover thread, needles, fabric, and rotary cutting.  You will learn about fabric colors, pattern sizes, and coordination.  Each follow-on class will be $10.  You must "know your machine".  If you have not had a know your machine class, please schedule one.  This series will yield a baby or lap size quilt.  All supplies for this class will be 10% off once your are signed up.


     Scan-n-Cut
Club: SVG - Who, What, Where, When, and Why

In this class you will find out all there is to know about an SVG file. Where to get them, how to import them into Canvas Workspace, and why to use them while doing embroidery are among some of the questions that will be answered. This will be a lecture / demo style class but I would encourage you to bring your laptop so that you can bookmark some of the sites of where I get my files and you can practice bringing them into Canvas Workspace.



     Boot Camp - Beginning Quilting Session 2:

This session will focus on strip-piecing, nestling, and accurate seams.  Students will learn how to sew strip sets and sub-cut them, sew an accurate 1/4" seam, and press correctly. Learn the trick to perfect seam matching with the "kiss method" and more.

In this class you will be making 4 different projects all done in the embroidery hoop with little to no sewing. You must have at least an 8" x 10" or larger embroidery field to participate in this class. The projects are: an oven mitt, a heart shaped oven mitt, a towel topper, and a pot handle mitt.

This class requires Premier+2 Embroidery Extra and is available for both Windows and MAC users.  The PhotoStitch Wizard and PhotoStitch Module are great features of Premier+ Embroidery.  You can take favorite photos and turn them into fabulous stitchouts in just a few short steps.  This lesson will take you through the various options available, as no one photo has only one possible result.  

       Boot Camp - Beginning Quilting Session 3:

This session will focus on half-square triangles. Students will learn multiple ways of doing them!  We will also discuss piecing problems and how to fix them.  Using your previous technique for aligning you seams you will now work on keeping your points.



      March Embroidery Club - Quilting in the Embroidery Hoop
      3/8  Friday 9:30 a.m. - 11:30 a.m. or

In this class you will learn how to prepare and quilt your project all in the embroidery hoop. Designs will vary. You will receive at least 10 different designs in your packet. This is a great way to make quilted fabric for bags, vests, table runners, place mats, baby blankets, and pillows. Also quilting pieced quilt tops!

All done in the hoop and sizes range from 5" x 7" to 9" x 9"


       Boot Camp - Beginning Quilting Session 4: 
       3/12 Tuesday 10 a.m. - 12 p.m. or 6-8 p.m
       Fee: $10  Squaring Up and Assembling Quilt Top

This session will teach you how to square up your blocks individually and then by row.  We will discuss how to fix problems and learn how the "fudge factor" works. In addition, we will begin discussions on borders and how to make quilting decisions.


       Boot Camp - Beginning Quilting Session 5: 
       3/19 Tuesday 10 a.m. - 12 p.m. or 6-8 p.m
       Fee: $10  Borders: Pieced and Unpieced

This session students will learn how to figure yardage, piece inner and outer borders, double up your rulers, mitered corners, and more.  We will also discuss properly attach your borders to lessen the "flag" problem. 

(Session 6 will be on 4/2 (Marking & Basting), Session 7 will be on 4/9 (Walking Foot Machine Quilting), Session 8 will be on 4/16 (Binding and Label)

This class requires Premier+2 Extra and is available for both Windows and MAC users.  This class will be using a previously saved quilt block and the background wizard function.  You will also see how you can add decorative stitching from a different machine.
